British Western
Electric
This telephone is known as PMG TYPE 7 here in Australia and was manufactured in Britain and is representative of many varieties of twin box telephones found all over the world. This type appears to have been popular in New South Wales because of its long distance capabilities, note the large battery compartment.
This instrument uses the Hunningscone Transmitter, which while it was revolutionary for it's day, had the unfortunate habit of losing it's viability because of 'packing' of the transmitter.
This telephone was one of two installed
on a property in the mid-western NSW town of Warren and these two telephones
were connected to two different exchanges (from the family of the owner)
The other telephone of this pair
is in a collection in Sydney.
