Coincident Coloured Surface Patterns

Regular Transfer Pattern               Pseudo-Random Pattern              Natural Stochastic Pattern

The identification of surface imperfections in the presence of a complex image background, such as a coincident albedo or structural pattern, represents one of the most challenging tasks within the field of automated inspection. Many industrial applications require the inspection of surfaces that may be patterned. Applications range from the regular patterns found in woven textiles, through pseudo-random patterns used in the production of tiles, to stochastic albedo patterns in marble, wood and leather.
