The Italian Adrian helmet

-- by M.C. --

Italian M.15 helmet (Adrian).

This was one of the first helmets produced in France and painted in a grey-artillery. They were shipped to Italy and re-painted in grigio-verde (Grey-green). This particular example was manufactured by "le Jeoux de Paris" and inside there is a ink stamp. It is from a 3rd infantry regiment of the "Piemonte" Brigade. The crown and number are painted with black varnish with a mask, but they were often painted by hand as well.

Warning : There are many fakes because the price of a helmet with insignia is four times that of a plain helmet.

Italian helmet M.16 (Italian made).

These helmets were made in 2 pieces, the helmet shell and the crest.

Also the liner was Italian made and is either in black oilcloth or in leather with a cloth band in Italian g/g wool.

Generally they have a rubber-stamping with MA surmounted by a crone, all in a circle. The correct paint is a dark grey-green which has a silk-like finish After World War 1, the colour of these helmets was pale g/g.
