Floor plan Fort Ertbrand,Broechem,Breendonk,Liezele and Haasdonk

There were 5 fortresses built from this type as Class II (small size) and 2 fortresses as Class I. Oelegem and Koningshooikt are both class I fortresses. The two caponiers in at the front side of the fortress provide flanking fire and protect the ditch wth 5.7 cm guns. The george casemats in the backside near the entrance, has the same function and can fire to the two nearby fortresses, like the Fort of Zwijndrecht.

The Fort is still owned by the military. A military road leads to the fort and it is not allowed to enter it. Unfortunately, I was not able to make a photograph of the george casemates.
