| The Development of the Breed |

Luang Pariphon Potchanapisut was a government officer of the Ministry of Justice and he had some ridgeback dogs as pets from 1927. He was a dog lover and was known as "an expert". He preserved and developed the Thai Dog. He was the first person to produce a silver blue dog(without ridge) but it was a female without ridge (short hair). So he took a male blue silver dog with ridge and mate it with the non-ridge female and he got a silver-blue male puppy name" Chao Tao" (Tao means Gray). It is beautiful and has many interesting features. So many people took their females to mate with "Chao Tao" in order to produce silver-blue ridgeback dogs since it was rare at that time. So it said that many of the silver blue dogs today have "Chao Tao" as their ancestors.
