8692 suffered from a serious accident on May 26 1992 at about 9:30 A.M. near the Fairview Mall. She returmed to passenger service in Oct 1992 and was withdrawn in the summer of 1994 after serving in the TTC for about 12 years. In the past, that was the end of the story.

Due to the technological difficulties of the CNG buses (9400-9449), many withdrawn but still servicable buses are desperately needed, so 8692 was chosen and a major overhaul was received. By Sept 1997, after almost 3 years of storage, 8692 was seen again in active service with Arrow Road Garage. This Nov 16 1997 photo showed 8692 at Queensway Garage, no significant difference in appearence was noticed compared with her withdrawl in 1993.

6390 was damaged in a crash westbound just west of Don Mills on the midday of July 18 1995. By Aug 1995, the TTC decided to assign all the 6360 series articulated buses to rush hour only duties after serious rusting was found in many of this model. Only 41 out of the total 90 survived in August 97. Surprisingly, 6390 returned to passenger service in Nov 95 and remained in active service mostly on 39C in August 1997.

2411 - Nov 2001

On June 4 1999, 8911 rearended another TTC bus 2039 at the Eglinton and Pharmacy area, the brakes failure on 8911 was the cause of the collision. 8911 received the 12 year major body rebuild in early 1998 under the state of good repair program. Here is another photo showing her door side after the 1998 rebuild. 8911 returned to service in the summer of 2001 after the Jun 4 1999 accident and the bus was renumbered to 2411. click for larger photo. On the other hand, 2039 was also a rebuilt bus from former GM 8283.

2426 - Dec 26 2001

On May 8 2001, 8926 BJ7152 was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Midland / St. Clair when 8926 was on the 102 Markham route. Here is May 8 2001 the Sun photo. This is the view of the damaged 8926 (photo by Russ Hilder) awaiting for rebuild at Hillcrest. The bus was rebuilt and became 2426 when she was seen on Dec 26 2001.

2445 - Nov 2001

8945 (BJ 3150) was involved in an accident Dec 26 2000, the bus then received the 18-year rebuild and returned to service as 2445 in early Nov 2001, the BJ 3150 license plate was retained.

2108 (Apr 2001)
2108 (damaged)

2108 (ex. 8541) was the first 2000 series GM bus to be retired after the bus hit a tree at about 50km/hr in Aug 2001. Another GM bus 2107 was also prematurely retired also because of an accident in Mar 2002. 2108 did not get the washer connector (see rebuilt 8541 here) while 2107 (ex. 8540) got the washer connector as 8540 received body rebuild before July 1998. Therefore, the retired GM bus here should be 2108. Here is another view
