William C. SELF was the son of Jacob L. SELF b. ca 1823 Jackson Co. AL d. bef 1862 probably in Fannin Co. TX. He may have died in the Civil War, but I have never been able to find out for sure. m. Melchezedec SELF was the son of Jacob SELF b. ca 1742 Orange Co. (?) NC d. ca 1809-1810 Mecklenburg NC.

Jacob SELF was perhaps the son of Phillip SELF (not proven) of Bute Co. NC
