Heres a reminder when it is cold outside please think of the freezing temperatures the wind chill factor can be a killer. Always check on your pets food and water supply reguardless of what the weather is. Larger dogs especially drink great quantities of water so please pay attention and think from your pets viewpoint. A personal frustration of mine is when I see owners transporting dogs in the back of a pickup truck. Not only a truck is dangerous what about that window in the car that is too far down?. The dog's can become frightened and jump out while moving. At a speed of 60 mph the result is disastrous!. Also when stopped at a red light a dog can jump and run and meet traffic, again this example would be a very sad outcome. I have personally seen a tied dog in a pickup truck jump and hang himself. Luckily I was the passenger in the vehicle behind the truck. I quickly without thinking I hopped out and lifted that german shepherd taking the chance of a bite just to save that pups life. The owners were very shocked and thankful their beloved pet was alright they were on the way to the vet. A plastic dog carrier crate is the safest most humane way of transportation. The crates are worth the cost if thats someones excuse. Think this way you have paid for a full bred animal which can cost a small fortune why not spend a bit extra to assure the safety and comfort of that living, loving and very loveable pet?. Something else that troubles me is in hot weather an owner leaving a pet in a hot closed car where the temperature can quickly rise to the boiling point which leads to heat exhaustion then fatality. Here is another point that makes me angry. ever touched the metal on a vehicle on a hot day? ouch! Now just why would you stick a dog in the back of a truck that is scorching so their feet are burned?....
