************************************************************************** Will Zuzak; DEMANUK.001 = Demjanjuk release; 1993-09-14 ************************************************************************** Dear Subscribers: As head of the Charitable Committeee in Aid of John Demjanjuk's Family, Montreal Branch, my wife, Lily, has gathered thousands of pages of documents including the Transcripts, Verdict and Appeal of the 1987-88 Jerusalem Trial, Judge Thomas Wiseman's Report to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeal, etc. We have hosted the defense team (Ed Nishnic, John Demjanjuk , Jr., Yoram Sheftel), arranged fund raisers, arranged discussions between the defense team and the McGill Law Faculty headed by Prof. Irwin Cotler, written critiques and letters to newspapers, phoned in to talk shows and talked to thousands of people about the case. Examination of this material indicates that no credible evidence has been submitted to the courts that he was ever in Treblinka, Sobibor or Trawniki (or that he is guilty of any war crimes whatsoever). Despite the fact that the Israeli Supreme Court has exonerated Mr. Demjanjuk of the charges against him, Mr. Demjanjuk is still in jail in Israel. I, personally, think that only a massive publicity campaign in North America will persuade Israel to release him. I therefore propose that a dialogue be established on the UKRAINE newsgroup and especially some Jewish ones discussing the issue and asking our Jewish friends to intervene within their communities on Mr. Demjanjuk's behalf. Unfortunately, I am a novice at this computer communications business and must rely on other subscribers to carry most of the load as far as file transfer, etc. is concerned.
