The Choconut Center Post Office was established in Broome County in December, 1893. Prior to that time it was officially Choconut Centre. The first postmaster of Choconut Center was William B. Carey. On June 30, 1902, the Choconut Center Post Office was discontinued, with future service being provided by the Binghamton Post Office.
