Broome County, New York Postal History
Berkshire: 1813 - March 21, 1822
The Berkshire Post Office was established in Broome County in 1813. Prior to that it was known
as Westville. The first postmaster of Berkshire was Joseph Waldo, II. The Berkshire Post Office
ceased operation in Broome County on March 21, 1822 when the Towns of Berkshire and Tioga were
returned to Tioga County.
