Welcome to the Everything Else Page!

This page I will dedicate to showing off the best of my other photos that will more or less represent the last 18 years of the National Championship Air Races at Reno. I am also going to include photos taken by a couple of my friends who have taken their share as well. I am also playing with animations now,Click here to visit Aviation animation. (my first being the P-51 'Strega' at the top of my Homepage). I will include my creations here and on subsequent pages. I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoy taking and making them. So, without further adue......

Rare Bear Animation

This originated as a picture of Rare Bear taken from the grandstands in Click here to visit Section 3. (I will say more about Section 3 in a minute). Not bad I must say. I used a combination of MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop, and Gif Construction Set.

Let us all bow our heads and pray: Dear God, let us have one more year with R.A. "Bob" Hoover! Amen!

Section 3 is a great place to watch the airshow and races. The people are all really friendly and the only prerequisite to join is to love the races and have fun. There are people from all over the country that come to Section 3. The performers and racers all recognize the enthusiasm, and appreciate the scorecards that are used in Section 3 to rate their performance. It is rare to see a low score. The Tshirts are optional, but available for a nominal price at the races. The performers and racers are not shy about coming up to the group and giving out autographs and "Stuff" to recognize the group for their support. (Hmmm, come to think of it, I don't think many people who hang out in Section 3 are shy or bashful either)! Go figure. Anyways, this is a nice group of people from all walks of life who welcome members, like a family who's motto seems to be, GO HAVE FUN! Please visit their webpage by pushing the Section 3 button above.

The Thunderbirds are good, but I miss the Blue Angels!

Hollis-n-MeReno 1991

These are a couple of pictures of my daughter, Hollis, who was 1 year and 8 months old. Me, being the brave dad that I am, decided to give her mom and little sister a break, and take her camping in the desert with me and the boys. She had a great time playing in the dirt [:-) and with the other little kids around. She really liked the planes too. The picture on the left is at the end of the day in the grandstands, (in Section 3, of course). Hollis was a VERY tired "Punkin'head". She was a good trooper though, and still bugs me about taking her back. I will one of these days. My friend Bob Miller, (better known as "Fed X Bob"), took that picture. I took the one of Hollis at the camp in the "Valley of Speed" on the right. She's just so dang cute, I had to add these. The last picture in this group is of Hollis (9) and her sister Emily (7), on the roof of my van at an airshow with the Thunderbirds at Fairchild AFB, Spokane, Washington, last summer. They are avid airshow fans and will be for a long time I hope.

White Lightning #13

Well, I would really be failing in my duties if I didn't cover some of the perennial favorites in this photo album. Though there are many, (and there ARE many, I know), I think it would be appropriate to mention Lefty Gardner and "White Lightning". The thrill of seeing a real, live, Lockheed P-38 in the air, either in a graceful knife-edge pass at show center in a demonstration, or going full bore down the Valley of Speed at about 25 feet off the ground, is not one that a person will soon forget. The fact that there are so few left flying in the world today, and the fact that the tight Reno Air Race Committee apparently has never had appreciation for this fact, has resulted in the loss of this beautiful, as well as historic aircraft, from the Reno air racing scene. Perhaps forever. So sad. The P-38 was even proclaimed by my better half to be her favorite, while not even knowing the significance of this noble bird. The sad thing is that future generations, whom the RARA claims to have a desire to attract, may never have that choice to make, due the decision by "the committee" to not help defray the cost of old #13's appearance last year, or in the future, as I understand it. Maybe it will change. I hope they can.
