December 3. 1933: Radio Luxembourg started transmissions in English from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The listeners loved its style, programmes and formats.

December 30. 1992: The station closed down after more than 59 years on the air.

The memories have lived on... But now:

September 12. 2005: The English service of Radio Luxembourg relaunched with test transmissions on digital AM and on the web - www.radioluxembourg.co.uk.

December 2006: Radio Luxembourg starts full-service programming.




Radio Luxembourg tribute on NRK
Norway´s NRK P1 broadcast a 1-hour special programme about Radio Luxembourg December 31. 2008. You can listen to the programme on demand from NRK´s radio player and then type "Radio Luxembourg" in the search field.


Active 208 community on Facebook

If you are a user of Facebook and a 208 enthusiast, then you should consider taking part in the group "Radio Luxembourg - The Great 208". This group has members containing contributions from former Radio Luxembourg staff and loyal listeners. It is an active group with many interesting photos.

Benny Brown from the old days. Benny is also one of the presenters on Radio Luxembourg today.


Radio Luxembourg is back on the air
It relaunched on September 12. 2005, and now have programmes 24 hours a day.
