I love cows. They are peaceful and curious creatures, good mothers, and fun to watch (if you're doing anything in the pasture, they will come watch you). What has always amazed me is their polls (top-knots). They are all different. When I was a little girl I used to name them based on their hair-do. Sometime you have a tight little "beehive", sometimes a side part, occasional "bangs", a combination of the above, or just a "bad hair day"!
These are 1998 replacement heifers. Future moms of great purebred commercial angus!
This is a OOPS. We ended up with 4 black-baldies this year (the neighbor has a fertile bull!). You can see from this picture why we have a ranch here, not a farm - way too many rocky hills.
This one is not an oops, it's from one of out bulls!
