We offer fishing charters, and a
different experience to what most international fishermen
are used to.
Batanes, and San Vicente, in Cagayan Province, Northern Philippines,
are both relatively unexplored, virgin fishing areas that offer
the best game fishing in the Philippines. Arguably, the best
game fishing in Asia. We guarantee
fish. Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, big jacks, and other game
fish. The best tuna fishing is in Palawan. Tuna is on another page.
The accomodations are nothing to rave about. Be prepared to rough it. This trip is definitely within the scope of "adventure travel".
You will fish from 30 ft long, outrigger canoes called "Bankas".
The ones in Batanes are really spartan. These hardened people don't seem
to understand the concept of comfort.
San Vicente is setup a little better , and they know what bill fishing
is all about.
In San Vicente, expect to wake up and be served local coffee. Your "Bankero" will greet you with a smile and "Good Morning Sir!". Your rods will be clean and ready for inspection. the baitbox will be full, hooks baited, and in 45 minutes, you will be at the prime grounds. These guys are pros. When you get a strike, they will know what it is, and how big it is. They know how to play the fish with the boat so you don't lose it. If you look sleepy when you get on the boat, they will ask you "Sir do you want us to hook the fish and just wake you up to fight it?"
Its probably pretty safe to say 4 things.
1)Nobody in your fishing club has ever done this
before.
2)You will never stop talking about it among
fishermen and family.
3)When you get back, your friends will follow
in your footsteps.
4) If you do it once, You'll hardly have left,
and you'll already be planning when you'll be back!
We will have more information up soon, but we thought we'd put this
page up to get the ball rolling. Get in while this is just
beginning. You'll get a better deal than waiting till all the travel agencies
get involved with us and we're forced to jack up the prices.

About the Authors:
Peter Capotosto is the Forbes Magazine representative in the Philippines.
He is a sailing fanatic. His homepage is Sail Philippines http://www.sailing.org.ph.
He started this fishing Philippines project because he got a lot of people
sending him e-mails asking about fishing. He contacted a friend, whom he
knew becausehe had been working on promoting sailing in the Philippines,
and was very interested in Paraws, a local sailing banca, or banka. Tony
Barrios has been involved with Paraws for a long time, and Peter also knew
Tony was very involved in fishing. On December 24 1998, Fishing Philippines
was born.
Tony Barrios is an explorer at heart. He is "computer illiterate" and
he doesn't have time to learn anyway. If he's not delivering his "fishing
shirts" to elite shops and sporting goods stores, he is somewhere where
there aren't any cellphones, let alone land lines. Tony is one of
the Philippines few "game fishing gurus". He is currently working with
an American film producer to document sports fishing in thePhilippines.
Tony leads the trips up North.
