LIRAN'S LEAVING

She leaves to make her fortune there afar
From I who knew and loved her beat of all.
Taking husband, house and family and car,
For her luck I cheer, but for mine I bawl.
For her many troubles now are lessened,
Her new means will help to ease her rocky way,
Her new voyage will begin well-christened,
Her child will find new friends with whom to play.
But I will lose her whose loving wisdom,
Loving voice and loving hands made me whole,
Finest friend in any earthly kingdom,
Gifted lover who knows my very soul.
In many ways I lost her long ago;
With this new parting now my heart shall know.
