JEALOUS STILL

In my mind I see other men kiss thee.
'Tis an imago that causes me great pain.
'Tis unfair, I know how thou dost love me.
Thou wouldst not hurt me with another swain.
Thou knowest how thou wouldst feel, should the shoo
Be on the other foot. Sauce for the goose
In not for the gander. What shall I do,
Faced with fear of betrayal? Set thee loose?
I could not. Could I ever let thee go?
No matter the attentions accepted
By thee from others, I must answer no.
And yet one situation excepted:
Should my heart by thy actions be broken,
Then would I return thy ev'ry token.
