THE 12th HOUSE: TREASURE OR TORTURE ?

The twelfth house of the chart has suffered from the worst reputation for being the trash can of the zodiac. In many textbooks, especially the ones written by medieval Astrologers such as Alan Leo you will notice that the 12th house the following terms are defined : Secret enemies, Pain, prosecution, victimization, drugs, alcohol, perversion, escapist tendencies and confinement.

The above is true for the 12th house. But every house, zodiac sign, planet, aspect, configuration has a positive and a negative connotation. The one thing the books do not mention is that the 12th house is where the hidden treasure in your chart.

The 12th house is the most imaginative and artistic of all the houses. Its the house of Pisces / Neptune, the semisextile, and the inconjunct. It is where you cultivate the gifts you where born with alone and then show the world you artistry.

The 12th can be very difficult for a youngster until he matures . This is due to secondary progressions planets progressing on to the ascendant (a day for a year.) This is why as one matures their 12th house gets better and better. the strength that you develop is astounding that no other human being can ever develop and if one can handle 12th house energy that can handle one of the most difficult aspects in their life.

Many hospital and health care workers have loaded stelliums in this house. On the overall the 12th house has quite a sympathetic connotation that makes an individual compassionate and empathetic. The only trap in having such a genuine quality is feeling victimized when no one recognizes your efforts and thus, feeling neglected and unrecognized. The gift is compassion for mankind and willingness to sacrifice. Its in the 12th house where you hide and never show the world your hidden secrets. Usually when one has doesnt have have any planets in the 12th house and the ruler of the 12th goes through a challenging aspect, individulas become desolate and have a difficult time trying to cope with the phase, this holds true for the progressed moon going through the 12th house for 2 1/2 years, the individual feels he's at the mercy of others emotions, and does not explain to others how he really feels.

INNER PLANETS IN THE 12TH HOUSE

Sun In the 12th House: At an early age there is an issue with one of the parents (the more authoritative one) either being absent or having sometype of difficulty in the family. Usually one will never show their ego ot the effect of individual expression, this is also due to childhood feelings loneliness. As one becomes older their ego completely changes and they feel that they must put on a mask in order to be accepted. The gift of intuition that develops due to observation and artistic ability from spending time visualizing a better future.

Moon in the 12th House: At an early age the native feels that he cant show his emotions, this is due to the mother not being fully present on an emotional base. As a child, the parents tend to move around a bit and this has an impact on how the child will express his true emotions to individuals. Even though this is the easiest planet to work with because the Moon is the fastest moving planet in our solar system. Feeling that your at the mercy of others peoples emotions is common and the way to get this going is to just open up and express yourself fully. The gift - perception to others reaction.

Mercury in the 12th House: Although Mercury is the planet that represents communication and the mind , many people with Mercury in the 12th house talk to themselves, or as others would say "thinking out loud." This is a placement that as a child promise not to repeat a secret and eventually spills the beans , As an adult, he will be cautious who he to trusts. The mind is very perceptive to education. This is the type of person that is quite instinctive with his logic especially when working on something technical. This placement is not so difficult as the Sun or Moon, however , there can be some complications with a brother or sister, since Mercury also siblingsl.

Venus in the 12th House: This is a classic example of ugly duckling. As a child he feels that he never receives any affection and thus has his peers constantly ridiculing him. As he matures the ugly duckling turns into a hansome prince Many actors have this aspect, especially when Venus progresses / and directs itself to the Ascendant - usually brings Marriage at an early age. This individual can have difficult saying, "I love you., " fear of being rejected is common. This Venus is extremely romantic and very giving regardless of the sign its in. Since Venus also deals with pleasure the person is likely not show his appetite to the world , ex: The girl that goes out on a date and will eat a full course meal alone before her date and then on the date will not eat much to show she doesn't have an appetite -- just to look good. Finally, since Venus has to do with ones romantic adventures it is common that one keeps their love life a secret due to career, or family acceptance.

Mars in the 12th House: Ones aggression and energy is inhibited as a means of not being expressed as a child, When the child becomes older he becomes more evolved around sporting activities. Since Mars can be violent, one will not show his angry state of mind as a child, but rather alone. As he gets older (providing Mars does progress out of the 12th house ) this does change and learns to fight his battles. Basically, this Mars, needs a father figure that did not show him how to stand up for his rights and eventually he has to learn how to defend himself, without feeling scared or sorry for hurting anyone. As a child however, he can feel victimized by peers (such as classmates) constantly picking on him and not being able to fight for his right. But when alone watch out! This Mars does become stronger (via progression .)

Jupiter in the 12th House: As a child , he may feel that he is stuck in a religion / culture he doesnt care. This is a classic example of the Hassidic Jewish Male that feels entrapped by parental pressure and wants to have the liberty of developing his own Morality. But somehow the child will feel that he has to speak to a person of an Religious figure to understand himself better. Many clergy have this planet situated in this position. Also, as time progresses he will either hide or run away to have his freedom. Finally Jupiter in this position can also show an individual that attends a private school that no one else knows, such as boarding school.

Saturn in the 12th House: ( The most difficult to master ) I WAS BORN WITH IT!!!! Alan Leo attributes this to Karma. I do not negate such a thing but since I like to see things placed in their proper perspective, There's more to it. As a child the native will have an extremely strict parent, one that is never content with the natives endeavors, usually because the parent has a broken home, and thus the child feels frustrated even in the adult world. The child is extremely ambitious to prove to the worlds how scholarly he actually is and will not show his fears or limitations to anyone . One can believe this individual is an extremely confident. But on the inside the native will feel older than someone in their prime of Citizenship. Technically, the individual is very well disciplined and in his unconscious mind he has ambitious thoughts that always enter his mind. The fear of failure always scares him, and he can become a legend because he feels he needs to work hard to prove himself, again, this is due from the parents not giving the child recognition as a child. All that is pure bullshit! Saturn in the 12th - Wise Sub consious mind! And and organizer behind the scenes!
