The Matrix In "The Matrix," Keanu Reeves plays Neo, a hacker who becomes involved in the truth behind the Matrix. Also starring Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss. Rated R. The Official Site I loved this movie! The special effects were great, and the soundtrack added to the intensity of the film. The story line is very interesting: "What if?" It is thought-provoking action adventure that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. |

"10 Things" is a modern day film based off of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." Beautiful younger sister Bianca can't date until frightening older sister Kat does--and everyone hates Kat. Starring Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Heath Ledger, and Larisa Oleynik. Rated PG-13. The Official Site This is great! It tops that stupid "Romeo and Juliet" remake with Leo and Claire. This has hilarious commentary, cute actors, and a great new twist on an old Shakespearean tale. This romantic comedy is sure to hit it with teens but should be seen by everyone :) |

"You've Got Mail" re-pairs Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan from "Sleepless in Seattle." The two play rival booksellers who are in love...on the Internet. Rated PG. The Official Site I love this movie. It's incredibly adorable! I've met a lot of people on the Internet, and this movie is the closest to how it actually happens. It's mostly a chick flick, but it's good for guys as well. :) Tom and Meg make the cutest couple. But don't be fooled by thinking it's just a love story. It has a true-to-life subplot about consumerism and how larger chain stores are devouring the smaller "homely" stores. Be sure to check it out! |

From the mid-80s comes "Remo Williams," America's new superhero. Watch him dangle from the Statue of Liberty, hit on the lovely Major Fleming, match wits with Chuin, and, uh, try not to get himself killed! Starring Fred Ward, Joel Grey, Kate Mulgrew, and Wilford Brimley. Rated PG-13. This is one of those movies that hardly anyone has seen. The title leads you to believe that there is more than one; you are deceived. Since it didn't take well with the general population, there were no more made. :( I saw it because it had Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager) in it. It was not a mistake! This movie is incredibly hilarious!!! It's an action film with some great stunts (for the time) and even better writing. I recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good, corny, action-comedy :) |

In the movie based on Carl Sagan's novel, the discovery of a message from outer space has worldly complications. The conflicts increase when it is learned that the message has instructions on how to build an interstellar transportation device. Starring Jodie Foster, Matthew McConaughy, Tom Skeritt, and James Woods. Rated PG-13. The Official Site Alien films have always been a favorite of mine, and this one is no exception. Jodie Foster's character Dr. Eleanor Arroway is completely believable. The storyline is very true-to-life; SETI calls it one of the truest films ever invented. It's another one of those "what if" movies, and it really gets you thinking. When watching, be sure to check for the subtle letter C appearing throughout the film, in honor of Carl Sagan (who died during the film's production). |

Someone has taken their love of sequels too far. Sydney is once again targeted as someone begins to duplicate the Woodsboro murders from two years ago. Starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Jerry O'Connell. Rated R. Scream 2 is much better than the first, one of the few sequels that I feel has surpassed its original (the beginning of the movie even discusses this). It has a smart plot and fun characters from the first film, as well as some new ones. The relationship between Courteney Cox and David Arquette (now engaged to be married) is the best! You will be guessing as to whodunit until the very end! |

Flying phobic Kate won't go to Paris with her fiancè. When he meets a goddesse there and breaks off their engagement, Kate flies "over the big blue ocean" to win him back. However, she finds herself falling for Luc, a handsome French thief. Starring Meg Ryan, Kevin Kline, Jean Reno, and Timothy Hutton. Rated PG-13. C'est magnifique! This is one of my favorite movies. It is probably the least-seen Meg Ryan film, but it is unworthy of its title. Beautiful scenery, witty lines (some in French--with subtitles, of course), and an amusing storyline make this film a must-see for all! |
