Holy Ghost
...suddenly there came a sound from heaven
as of a rushing mighty wind,...ACTS 2:2

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE
HOLY GHOST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

There is a doctrine that teaches that
the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost
are not one and the same. They
teach that a person is filled with
the Holy Spirit when that person ask
Jesus to become their personal Savior and
to come into their heart. The Holy
Ghost is considered an extra 'gift' and
that if you have it, your alright
and if you don't have it, your alright.
First of all, I will agree to the
fact that the Holy Ghost is a 'gift'.
But it is a gift that is
extended to every single person.

"For the promise is unto you, and
to your children, and to all that
are afar off,..."
Acts 2:39

What was the promise?
"...wait for the promise of the Father,
which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
For John truly baptized with water; but
ye shall be baptized with the Holy
Ghost not many days hence."
Acts 1:4,5

"ye were sealed with that holy
Spirit of promise,"
Ephesians 1:12

We see that the promise, the Holy
Spirit of promise, the gift, is the
Holy Ghost, but, it also a gift
everyone must obtain for salvation.

"For by grace are ye saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God:"
Ephesians 2:8

"For the wages of sin is death;
but the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23

The gift of God is eternal life,
obtainable only ,by the gift of the
Holy Ghost.

Secondly, you cannot seperate the Holy Spirit
From the Holy Ghost.
"I indeed baptize you with water unto
repentance: but he that cometh after me
is mightier than I, whose shoes I
am not worthy to bear: he shall
baptize you with the Holy Ghost,"
Matthew 3:11

"For by one Spirit are we all
baptized into one body"
1 Corinthians 12:13

These two scriptures say the same thing,
both written by Paul.
1."Know ye not that ye are the
temple of God, and that the Spirit
of God dwelleth in you"
1 Corinthians 3:16

2."What? know ye not that your body
is the temple of the Holy Ghost
which is in you, which ye have
of God, and ye are not your
own? For ye are bought with a
price: therefore glorify God in your body,"
1 Corinthians 6:19

Notice also, that the price paid so
that our body could become the temple
of the Holy Ghost, was Jesus' death
on calvary. Did not He die for
everyone? Then the Holy Ghost is for everyone!

"For the kingdom of God is not
meat and drink; but righteousness, and
peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."
Romans 14:17

Without the Holy Ghost, you are
missing out on the Kingdom of God.
"...no man can say that Jesus is
the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost."
1 Corinthians 12:3
Can you call Jesus, Lord?

"But this is that which was spoken
by the prophet Joel; And it shall
come to pass in the last days,
saith God, I will pour out of
my Spirit upon all flesh:"
Acts 2:16,17

Here Peter is telling the crowd about
the Holy Ghost they had just recieved.
He is quoting a prophesy for the
Book of Joel.

"I will pour out my Spirit upon
all flesh;.."
Joel 2:28

Peter is informing them that the
prophesy had now been fulfilled,
with the outpouring of the Holy Ghost.
It clearly explains that the Spirit is
the Holy Ghost.
Some say that the Holy Ghost was
only for a select few, and that
after the 'day of pentecost' the
infilling of the Holy Ghost ceased.

"And we are his witnesses of these
things; and so is also the Holy
Ghost, whom God hath given to them
that obey him."

To all that obey Him. Acts 5:32

"Then said Paul, John verily baptized with
the baptism of repentance, saying unto
the people, that they should believe on
him which should come after him,
that is, on Christ Jesus. When they
heard this, they were baptized in the
name of the Lord Jesus. And when
Paul had laid his hands upon them,
the Holy Ghost came on them; and
they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
And all the men were about twelve."

To John's disciples Acts 19:1-7

"And God, which knoweth the hearts,
bare them witness, giving them the Holy
Ghost, even as he did unto us;
And put no difference between us and
them, purifying their hearts by faith."

It is for everyone that wants it. Acts 15:9

"John indeed baptized with water; but ye
shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Forasmuch then as God gave them the
like gift as he did unto us,
who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ;
what was I, that I could withstand God?
When they heard these things, they held
their peace, and glorified God, saying,
Then hath God also to the Gentiles
granted repentance unto life."

To the Gentiles Acts 11:15-17

"And they of the circumcision which
believed were astonished, as many as
came with Peter, because that on the
Gentiles also was poured out the gift
of the Holy Ghost. For they heard
them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid
water, that these should not be baptized,
which have received the Holy Ghost as
well as we? And he commanded them
to be baptized in the name of
the Lord".
Speaking again of the Gentiles
Acts 10:44-48

"Now when the apostles which were at
Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the
word of God, they sent unto them
Peter and John: Who, when they were
come down, prayed for them, that they
might receive the Holy Ghost:(For as
yet he was fallen upon none of them:
only they were baptized in the name
of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they
their hands on them, and they received
the Holy Ghost".
To the Samaritians Acts 8:14-17

All of these instances were after the
day of pentecost and the initial outpouring
of the Holy Ghost, and it is
still happening today.

2.TONGUES

When God was ready to fulfill His
promise and prophecy concerning the outpouring
of the Holy Ghost, He chose speaking
with tongues as the initial evidence
of this baptism.
"And they were all filled with the
Holy Ghost, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance."
Acts 2:4

Isiah had prophetically described this experience.
"For with stammering lips and another tongue
will He speak to this people."
Isiah 28:11

In Samaria, many were filled with the
Holy Ghost and apparently, they spoke with
tongues because Simon the sorcerer saw evidence
that made him know they had recieved
the Sirit of God. Acts 8:14-19
"For they heard them speak with tongues,
and magnify God."

"In the law it is written,
With men of other tongues and other
lips will I speak unto this people;
and yet for all that will they
not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore
tongues are for a sign, not to
them that believe, but to them that
believe not..."
1 Corinthians 14:21-22

The experience of the Holy Ghost baptism,
with the evidence of speaking in tongues,
is being recieved all across the land,
and around the world. It is estimated
that more than twenty million have recieved
this experience in this present centry alone.
Will you be among those who dare
to believe God and the truth of
the scriptures.
