David first appears on the US Census in 1880 in Richmond County, Georgia living with his parents Robert and Martha Welch. He is the twin brother of Martha Welch his sister, born about 16 May 1874.

David allegedly married my Grandmother Beulah Josephine (Peachy) Byrd on 25 Oct 1901 according to the marriage license. To be correct here I must say that the license was obtained on 25 Oct 1901 but there was no date for any ceremony so whether or not the marriage was official is anybodies guess.
This is David's first Marriage and Beulah's second as she was married to John Ellis in 1906

Children of this marriage were:

Katie Beall Welch         Born: Abt 1 Aug 1903
William Lee Welch        Born: Abt 15 Oct 1905
Louis Harmon Welch     Born: Abt 21 Sep 1908
Robert Deas Welch       Born: Abt 6 Dec 1912
Ina Josephine Welch     Born: Abt 15 May 1915

David died on 10 Jan 1926 according to his death certificate.  At that time he was living with his second wife Tenie Griffin Welch and their daughter Esther at 122 Grace Street in Augusta, Georgia and the cause of death was listed as Tuberculosis. David was buried in cemetery #64 located on Fort Gordon, Georgia on 11 Jan 1926 near his parents. No marriage license was found on file for him and Tenie.

David and Beulah must have separated sometime between January and June in 1920 because in January they are shown living together as a family unit and in June they are living in two separate households Dave has two of the children Willie and Louis and Beulah has Robert and Ina with her and is living with her brother William (she is identified as William's wife on the census but William is her brother) Katie who is 26 years old has obviously moved out on her own and is shown as a housekeeper for William Goodson and his son. There has been nothing else found on John Ellis but Beulah is shown living with her mother on the 1900 US Census in Richmond County.
