My Father
Robert Hollis Deas Welch was born about 6 December 1912 in
Richmond County, Georgia and died on 29 Oct 1976 in Augusta, GA
He married Ida Hazel Byrd in Feb 1938 in Edgefield, SC.
This was the second marriage for Hazel.
No one could ever explain why he had four names. In the bible he is
listed
as Robert Deas and on the 1920 census he is listed as Hollis D.
My Welch's have always been tight lipped about
everything,
as a kid I used to ask questions, but never got any answers so I quit
asking
questions out loud and started listening and trying to read between
the lines.
I Believe their are skeletons in everybody's closet and some you want
to
share and some you don't. Since I think it's disrespectful to speak
ill of the
dead and I am the only living male member of my family still living
I think I'll keep mine locked up. The only reason I inserted this is
to alert the
few living relatives both natural and adopted that I had more than a
few suspicions about my history that may at some point in time
interlock
with their own.
Robert Hollis Deas Welch is buried in the Westview Cemetery in
Augusta, GA next to his mother in the Welch section.
Ida Hazel Byrd Buck Welch Wilson is also buried in the
Westview
Cemetery in the J. A. Byrd section.
