First, look for your Pokimon's type in the left-hand side. Then look for the opponent's Pokimon type on the top. From your type to your opponents type, trace a line with your finger down until they meet. The symbol you see on that space tells you how well the Pokimon well do against each other in battle. If the space is blank, they are evenly matched. For example: say that you want to know how well Charizard will do against Blastoise. You're pokimon is Charizard and your opponent has Blastoise. You find number 2 in the left column which is the Fire type, and you find number 3 in the top column which is the Water type. Trace a line down until your fingers meet, and you will see a circle. You then look it up in the key and it says: Poor. So Charizard's Fire attacks will do a little of damage to Blastoise. Also this chart is based on the fact that the two pokimon are around the same level. If you have a level 10 Ivysaur fighting a level 80 Charizard, obviously the Charizard is gonna win!
