TC (as seen below), based on how old he was when I got him as a kitten, was born sometime in May 1987.
Out of the cats that own us he was the healthiest. On July 3, 1999 he was diagnosed as having a Hyperthyroid. He was taking one
Tapezole tablet a day to control it while we looked into having the Radioactive Iodine treatment done to cure it. In September 1999
we had the Radioactive Iodine treatment done. It was expensive at $1100 but was a non-invasive, permanent cure. Now he's a healthy
cat living his golden years. Of the four on this site, this one is the real talker in the group. We sometimes call him Chatty Kathy
because he's always talking to you. He also likes to be picked up and held on your shoulder. He purrs but his purr is the quietest
of any cat I've known and you need to put your ear up to him to hear his purr. He was also very protective of Winter and wouldn't let
anyone bother her except himself. As with all the others, he has a unique personality.
On July 20, 2004 I lost TC. He had just celebrated his 17th birthday in May and had always been an affectionate, loving lap cat.
He had been slowly losing weight for awhile and the vet had attributed it to old age. He had a geriatric checkup in early May and was
pronounced healthy. Over the past two months his weight decreased even more rapidly. He was never a big eater so it
took me a few days to realize he had stopped eating altogether. I force fed him by hand for several days before our vet
appointment this past Tuesday. My regular vet was out of town so I had to see her associate (who is also very good).
He checked TC over thoroughly and said he had an enlarged liver and probably liver cancer and there really wasn't much
we could do. Since I always do what's best for them so they won't suffer rather than selfishly keep them around, I
agreed that the best thing to do would be to put him to sleep. I held him and said my good-bye's and stayed with him
when the vet gave him the injection. TC had a very long, good life and was always treated with love and as members of the family.
Making that final decision is heart wrenching and one I had hoped I wouldn't have to make with TC. He was very healthy most of his
life and I was hoping this once to have one go in his sleep of old age but I guess that wasn't to be. I had him cremated and have
put his box next to his other friends that he had spent so many years with and I will look for him as well when my time comes to
cross the Rainbow Bridge.
