Some of my various interests and hobbies.
Computers
My current home PC is a Gateway 2000 G450 450 MHZ Pentium II with 128 Mb of RAM.
With some additions it has:
- IBM Hard Drive with 14 Gig of hard drive space.
- 2 Printers, a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 1100se and an Epson 800 ink jet.
- Microtek X6EL full page color flatbed scanner.
- DVD internal Drive
- HP SureStore 6020EP External Parallel port CD-R Drive
- Toshiba 32x XM-6302B IDE CD-ROM Drive
- Westel DSL modem
- 17" monitor
I also enjoy trying out lots of different types of software. Some of the games I enjoy
(when I have time for them)are You Don't Know Jack, Sim City 3000 and Duke Nukem 3D.
For doing Cards, Letterheads, & various other projects I use Print Artist.
I have used several other packages including Print Shop and Print Master
but prefer Print Artist because of it's ease of use, versatility and most of all
because of the tons of add on graphics, etc. that's available for it. Recently picked up
Print Shop Deluxe Ver. 6 and it's very good with nice added features. For making CD's I
prefer using Adeptec's Easy CD Creator DeLuxe v5 package. As it implies, it's easy to
use and if you're a music lover like me and want to transfer some of those old LP's and
Tapes to CD, this program makes it easy and has good de-noise and de-click software
built in. I've recently bought DART PRO 98 for sound file remastering and am still learning it.
I also use Sound Forge XP 4.0 for editing sound files.
Music
I have been an avid music collector for over 40 years.
My collection consists of:
- 3500+ CD's and still growing (with many imports and rare, out of print items).
- About 300-400 LP's (had over 2,000 but sold most at record conventions after
switching to CD's 15+ years ago.)
- Several hundred 45's (mostly 1960's & early 1970's).
I enjoy a little of everything and probably have at least one disc of almost any kind of music.
The bulk of my collection is made up of various types of Rock from the 1950's continuing up to today.
Following that closely is a large selection of Blues music and Soundtrack / Cast / Movie type music.
I really don't care for RAP music or Opera and dislike some of the so-called movie soundtracks coming out that
are just a bunch of RAP, Heavy Metal, Alternative or Electronic songs strung together to try to get youths to buy.
Sci-Fi / Horror / Fantasy
I love Sci-Fi, Horror and fantasy books, movies, videos, etc.
- My favorite sci-fi author is Issac Asimov. I was fortunate enough to have seen him
speak twice locally, once at Vassar College and another time at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
He was a fantastic and humorous speaker as well as author. He was a prolific writer and his passing
away left a void that will not soon be filled.
- I also enjoy reading Stephen King even if some of his book are overly long and a bit
difficult to get into. I have read the majority of his books and prefer the earlier ones
over the newest ones.
- Favorite sci-fi films are "The Day The Earth Stood Still"and "Forbidden Panet"
from the 50's and all the various "Star Trek" & "Star Wars" films
of the past few decades up to today.
- I'm also a big Godzilla fan and have managed to get the original 1954 Japanese
version of the 1st movie which is much different than the US version. I have also gotten
copies of the Japanese Godzilla movies made since 1985 that were not released in the U.S. until recently.
Also have picked up many Japanese import CD's on all of the soundtracks and put up a web site devoted to
the music in these films. Check it out at:

- I usually attend the Chiller Theater conventions held in Secaucus, NJ occurring twice a
year, once in the spring and once around Halloween in the fall. It's a great place to meet
the stars, directors, etc of your favorite Sci-Fi/Horror/Fantasy type films and TV shows.
Also a great place to buy stuff. See my links page for a link to their site for more info.
- I'm also a big fan of the James Bond films and have seen all the films since Dr. No
as well as having them all on video. The hardest part was getting all the soundtracks on CD.
Some are very difficult to find and get a copy of.
Misc
I really have so many interests in a wide variety of things that I really couldn't list them
all. I've always been an avid book reader and try to read a book a week as well as the many magazines
I subscribe to. I also enjoy many different types of movies so go to the movies a few times a month as well.
I also collect celebrity autographs which can be a fun hobby. I'm constantly interested in getting into
areas of knowledge I didn't previously have and am quite curious so I'm never bored nor ever have enough
time to devote to the things I like to do. One of these days I'd like to find a good course where I can
learn beginning Japanese.
