Research for Your Group's Region
Second Postcard of "The Imaginary Correspondence"


Creating a postcard and writing a description of the "Invisible City" (the imaginary city) where your correspondent is presently writing.

--->  First you should research 5 facts or more about the place in your "home country" where you imagine your correspondent to be.  You can only use the links provided on this sheet.
--->  Secondly, you should trace an image from the links below which you would like to use on your project.

Home work:
Over the weekend you are to write an "invisible city" story.... a letter in fact.... from the imaginary person with whom you are corresponding.  This will be your rough copy.  You can also start colouring and altering your postcard, which should be about the size of 3/4 of a page.

1.  Essay on Your Individual Novel  for English(5 paragraphs using the questions to consider about Form, Content, and My Response)
-  search information on author, title name, location, word definitions, etc.

2.  Essay on Stereotypes for P.S.D  (3 paragraphs using titles provided)
-  search "stereotypes"  for ideas
-  search specific label  ("teens", "Japs")
-  search information about their real culture (ex.  "Japanese culture")
-  search "empathy"

3.  Descriptive Essay on a Picture  (for future English project)
-  search using the following links, for a picture you can describe in three detailed paragraphs.

Research Options for March 29th:

1.  Prepare notes for an ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY, where you will try to convince classmates they should visit a City in your home country.  The essay will describe, in convincing detail, two aspects of the chosen city which are unique.

2.  Prepare notes for a DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY, where you will describe the form, content, and mood of a work of art which can be viewed in a gallery in that same city.

Procedure:

  1. Assign cities to each group member.
  2. Use http://www.metacrawler.com to search information on that city.  (ex.  Venice Tourism )
  3. Take notes about two important, unique and interesting aspects of your city.  (use note cards)
  4. Use metacrawler to search for Museums and Galleries in that city.
  5. Once you find a  painting or work of art which is located in your city, try also to find a full sized version at one of the following art sites:  Mark Harden's Art Archive,   or     The Web Museum
