1. Protagonist (Main Character):

The focus of the story is on this changing character.
(Round Character)

Develops because of

inner decisions,

through conflict with the antogonist, etc.

through tensions caused by changing "plot" (story)
2. The Antagonist (opposing character):

The person who acts as, or who represents, the main oppostion
against the protagonist. (one source of conflict)

Changes less (Flat Character)

Can even be a symbol for opposing forces.
3. Secondary Characters

Varying degrees of importance (second main to "fifth business")

Can influence main character's changes.
