Class:          English
Objective:   To find elements of inner and external conflict in the story "On the Bridge" (series More Strawberries)
Materials:  Class set of books
Opening Motivational Set:   Discussion of Conflict in Films.   Oral reading to set mood
Procedure:

1.  Read story orally, then students finish themselves (end of last day)

2. 

  • Go through "response questions to ask myself" orally.
  • Refer to form questions on 'beginning, middle and end' to highlight the elements of the story that insert themselves in the middle to "foreshadow"  the events of the climax.  (Brainstorm Ideas from class)
  • Go through three questions in the back of story orally.
  • Ask for any other "questions to ask myself"  people thought were really important. see


3.  Add these questions to list of "Questions to Ask Myself"
Content:  "What kind of conflicts can I find and explain?"
Form:      "Which events show the conflicts beginning to develop?"
Response:  "Can I relate to any of the inner or external conflicts?"
 
 
 

4.  The rest of the period has been reserved for work on "Sound of Thunder Scripts"

Followup/ Evaluation:

Next class is on tracking conflicts between protagonists and antogonists (as people and symbols for a conflicting element)
