Objectives

1.  Prepare notes for an ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY, where you will try to convince classmates they should visit a City in your home country.  The essay will describe, in convincing detail, two aspects of the chosen city which are unique.

2.  Prepare notes for a DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY, where you will describe the form, content, and mood of a work of art which can be viewed in a gallery in that same city.

Materials:     addresses of use on the board
Opening Motivational Set
Virtual Visit to a famous city.
 
Procedure:
 
 

Procedure:

  1. Assign cities to each group member.
  2. Use http://www.metacrawler.com to search information on that city.  (ex.  Venice Tourism )
  3. Take notes about two important, unique and interesting aspects of your city.  (use note cards)
  4. Use metacrawler to search for Museums and Galleries in that city.

  5. Once you find a  painting or work of art which is located in your city, try also to find a full sized version at one of the following art sites:  Mark Harden's Art Archive,   or     The Web Museum 
 
Followup/ Evaluation:

Students will use the above notes to prepare an argumentative and a descriptive essay next week.
