Objective:    To prepare for research in the library on a topic related to Walkabout
Materials:   note sheets, outline of bibliography
Opening Motivational Set
Procedure:
1.  Hand back and take up questions on Chapters 12-14 of Walkabout
(answers handed in to teacher last day are marked off into a box. 
students must take additional notes outside of box as we are taking up the answers, 
to practice quick note taking)


2.  Review Essay Guidelines from previous overheads. 
 

3.  Tell class they will 

  • Research on a topic related somehow to the book Walkabout.
  • Record notes on a notes sheet only.
  • Record bibliographic information on the same sheet.
  • Use examples from the book  in the essay. 
  • All essays must have three distinct sections, and proper paragraphs are expected.
  • The entire essay will be written in class, using only the book and your notes after two library visits only.
  • The good copy of the bibliography page will be done at home.
  • All topics must be approved
  • Sample Topics List
  • Aboriginals;   Australian Plants;   Australian Geography;  Australian Animals;  Others
3.  Pass out notes sheets for research projects

4. Copy out Bibiography Notes into section 2 of binder.
 

5.  Library Visit  (first of two only)
 

 

Followup/ Evaluation: 
Essay and bibliography page will be written in class
