Objective:   To use internet links to collect information on a city which will be used in a persuasive essay/speech.
Materials:  essay prep sheets
Opening Motivational Set:   Example of a persuasive speech on Montreal
Procedure:

1. 
Explanation of first two paragraphs forming 

i) a general overview of good reasons to visit that city  (basically a descriptive paragraph)
ii) a more focussed emphasis on one undeniably unique thing about that city. 
                (an analysis and a collection of many appropriate supporting examples)
iii) an offensive paragraph which anticipates comments made by detracters of that city.
      Note:  today we research for information on the first two paragraphs of the essay.
2. 
Demonstrate an example of how to use notetaking sheet for first two paragraphs of a persuasive essay.

3. 
Demonstration of links page to be used.

4. 
Class works on internet research
Followup/ Evaluation: 
The class will prepare a three paragraph essay for next week, after studying other examples of persuasive essays.
