1. Review overheads given on essays:
- selected students read each paragraph orally, - students identify key elements and identify them according to code provided. 3. In order to provide them with an idea of what others might say, so they can "anticipate" others arguments, we play the first round of the game called, "stay on the stage", whereby one student from each "tower group" goes on stage, after 30 seconds of argumentation from each student about their city the class votes on who to throw off, and points are given for each round each student is able to stay "on the stage" (1 if they stay after first round, 2 second, etc.) 4. Library visit to research
and write the rest of the persuasive essay on a city we should visit (in
their home country according to their tower at tower

Montreal is a city that blends French and English traditions, Montreal is a cosmopolitan city, and Montreal is also at the centre of the vibrant province of Quebec. Montreal has it all, including all those little things we associate with French Canadian traditions, like places to get great tourtiere meat pie! MMMM. You can eat next to the Olympic stadium, and afterwards you can take a subway train downtown to view other modern buildings like the Museum of Modern Art. But if that is not enough for you, you can stroll up to the mountain and walk through the park to Beaver Lake. There you can practice your french with the locals and look out over the city skyline. As the sun sets you will really feel like you have gone somewhere different.
And you really have, because Montreal at night is better than any city in the world. You can stroll down "the Main" and go to discotheques and dance clubs playing all kinds of music. In the Latin Quarter you can hear Blues and watch people from quaint roadside cafes. And if you really want to see it all, you can head over to Crescent street where the Englishers hang out in their pubs, and walk down to the Molson Centre where Celine Dion is singing for her home town crowd.
Now I know what you are saying. Some cities offer beaches, and others have great art Museums. You are also probably thinking that a French city like Montreal couldn't possibly have anything for a person who likes sports. Well, you would be wrong on every count, because Montreal is an island, and if the summer is hot you can always get away to Oka beach, or one of many others. You can duck inside one of the two major art museums, where in the cool air conditioning you can read over your newspaper to see who the Expos are playing, looking up now and then at some of the most famous paintings in the world.
So you see, Montreal has it all. Whether it is culture, nightlife, or just to catch a baseball game at the Olympic Stadium, Montreal is the place to go. And if that's not enough, rent a canoe and row out to Ormstown and the romantic Tower University Campus.
