A Cure For Desolation
by Heather

Just let me wallow
All by myself,
In this perilous place,
Where I now
Find the likes of myself
Shivering in the
Darkness of fear
And of sin.
Where no light
Can reach me,
Only your touch
Awakens me
From this dream,
Or maybe it's
A nightmare.
I may return to this
Desolate place
Sometime.
That I've found
While exploring
My conscience and the
Loneliness that's inside of me
That fills my soul
When I'm faced
With the things
That frighten me
Or make me feel
Weak and frail.
Yet you are here
To comfort me and
Make me feel safe
And appreciated.
You make me
Sane again.
You cure me
Of my desolation.
You make me
Whole.

A Forgotten Friend
by Heather

As I pass you in the hallway,
I wave to you as you hurry by.
You turn your head and look away,
And I am left to wonder why.

Left alone in my confusion,
You never really cared.
Your friendship was an illusion,
You didn't care how I faired.

No matter what you claim,
No matter how hard you may try,
I know you won't remember my name,
A tear falls from my eye.

A Vow and a Departure

I summon the shadows from your head,
While on your doorstep we do stand.
The man with the lantern light passes by,
And you reach for my icy cold hand.

We walk down the dark and shaded road,
Under the moon's fading light.
A forgotten leaf falls from a tree,
And dances on into the night.

Times have changed since we were small,
Now we walk together down my lane.
Hand in hand, our pace slows,
As we realize that we are not the same.

We glance at one another our gazes meet,
I let your hand slip, and we move apart.
You whisper kind words into my ear,
We make a vow and cross our hearts.

For we must meet again you promise,
And I will see you again, if only for a while.
I wave to you as you slowly back away,
I see your tears and your smile.

                                                A Cloud of Nothing

By: "That Girl"

Gut wrenching feeling in my stomach
Can’t help but think
Always thinking.
Why?  Why not?
It always happens in the end.

Brain in overdrive
Ocean’s tide coming and going
Drowning me,
Then letting me dry
Alone, in a heap,
           on the cold wet sand.

5 weeks you say?
Guess that’s enough
Same song over and over,
Same story
Heard it a million times.

Can’t get it to go away
That nagging pain that just won’t quit.
Gotta get away,
Escape,
            find a new place
Find a new life.

It all depends on surroundings
Whatever’s lingering around.

Someone was killed today,
Actually a lot more.
It’s the cool thing to do.
Trench coats and guns,
Where do I fit in?

This is crazy, twisted
The world’s crumbling around me
But there’s no one there,
No one to hear my cries for help.

Just Emptiness

I am an Actor playing a role on the stage called life.
I am a Bodybuilder making myself better as I move on in life.
I am a Prisoner who can’t escape from the boundaries of   home.
I am a Teenager just starting out in the world.
I am an Explorer searching for the truth in life.
I am a Clown bringing joy and happiness to life.
I am a Watcher watching things happen to others but never to myself.
I am a Warrior fighting for my place in life and never backing down.
I am a Reader reading the passages in the book of life.
I am a Builder putting together building blocks of society.
I am an Artist always painting around my life.
I am the most important thing I can be ME.

               Travel Poem

by Carolyn B.

The land of purple gel is a great place,

                                        great for a vacation,

bull fights and beaches to entertain,

time passes by at an easy pace

At night you can watch the universal stars,

they're visible from anywhere, making you feel at home,

something flies by, was it a star, a planet?

I think I'd like to live on Mars

As you can seem, Spain is great

                                     plenty of tourist entertainment,

                                     along with the homely sights,

leaving everybody with a full plate
