     I feel safe and certain in saying that Neon Genesis Evangelion is just about the most original thing i've ever seen. At the heart of the series, it is simply a character study, but it happens to be backed by an amazing and breathtaking sci-fi story. Maybe what makes it truly unique is that fact that this story is set in a science fiction post-apocaliptic future, with alien invaders and giant robots. Yet, just about everyone can relate to the characters and their problems. Other people state that Neon Geneis is reality. And i completely agree with them. And also, who can't respect Anno for refusing to make a happy ending to the series? After all, Eva is not a happy story.
     In Japan and the anime world, this series also carries such remarkable worth because Anno and Gainax once again broke all the rules of anime. C'mon, Eva is a robot show! But along with that pop-culutre element, Anno manages to make something that is much more meaningful.
