The story begins when Batman is racked with personal doubts, troubled with how lonely his life has become, despite having such friends as Robin, Alfred, Batwoman and Commissioner Gordon.  Then, at a marriage ceremony he attends as Bruce Wayne, the Scarecrow unleashes his fear gas on the guests, prompting the arrival of Batman, Robin and Batwoman (all of whom were guests).  Scarecrow then exposes Batman to a gas that brings out his greatest fear...LONELINESS.  One by one, each of his close friends and allies disappear from sight, or so he perceives!  In desperation, he turns to the one person who could help him...an old enemy, the Catwoman.  They track Scarecrow to Gotham University, and end up overcoming fear with
