Back to my original "reading not very intellectual books" not made for thinking but just for enjoying a nice novel on the beach :).

I don't need to introduce you Dirk Pitt or Al Giordino, or Admiral Sandecker and his bad temper when he sees Al with one of his own cigars, or Max, the nice computer. or Hiram Yaeger and the others of the Numa Team. Nor will I tell you why it is called Valhalla Rising, except it bears a link with the theory the Vikings did go to the Americas.

What I am going to tell you is that I highly enjoyed this new Dirk Pitt Adventure. It has the usual elements of Dirk being the male all us girls are dreaming about, saving the lost female and the orphan from certain death. In this case, the sinking of a new, ultra-modern cruise ship with 2500 passengers anc crew with a small research ship which nearly sunk as well under the sheer weight of all the passengers saved and the saving of the daughter of an eminent scientist who did die in the sinking before he could reveal his new find, which will revolutionize modern transportation. In this book, we go from Australia, to the United states, with a nice little trekking journey across the East coast.

A lot of action, dirk Pitt saving a few thousand more people in the process :).

It is way more interesting than usual because he, Cussler, talks about more than the usual bad guy trying to destroy the planet. Theories. all of us dreamers, hope will be established and proven before we die. And I had my little tear at the end but I won't tell you why. It made me want to read his next most recent adventure but unfortunately, Cussler's new novel is not about Dirk Pitt, so I'll wait like some others.

This book is great in any circumstances, be it on the beach, on the train, in your bed, in case you don't want to do something else. If you're like me, you won't be able to put it down and you would have prefered it to be more like 700 pages instead of 500 :) I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did.
