Chief Hammer, Virginia West and Andy Brazil are back. The characters born with Hornet's Nest come back but this time they relocate in Richmond, Virginia.

Some might think that their paths would cross Kay Scarpetta. But it doesn't, not really, just a little reference to her as the medical examiner called upon the crime scene.

Chief Hammer resigned from the Charlotte's police department to help other cities with their crime issue. And to be honest Richmond is probably now one of the most dangerous cities in reality.

Apparently, she is called in to implement the New York program that was implemented in Charlotte with big success. That implies that Richmond police sucks! : )

So, they arrive in Richmond. Everybody resents they presence even though necessary.

At the same time, a new kid arrives in Richmond, a kid who spent most of his time in jail but has a clean record because he has just turned 16 and he knows it! And of course, this one wants to be famous. At the same time, a virus is given to the computer program that is part of the deal with chief Hammer. A map with blue fish appears on every computer which uses the program and this because the one who created the address for the Richmond site, decided to go through different gates over the web, like the Congress site, all websites are locked up because they don't know how to get rid of that virus.

West thought it was a trick by her very intelligent Cat, Hammer thought it was her dog that did it!

So Chief Hammer, West and Brazil are in deep troubles with a gang forming with that new kid on the block and that virus. At the same time, Brazil and West are out of sorts.

I actually love this book better than Hornet's nest but as for hornet's nest; the only thing you really care about is how are they going to catch the kid, since you know from the start who that is. There's a lot of info about Richmond and a lot of characters are thrown in as in Hornet's Nest. It is very different from the Scarpetta series as if it was another writer. I am in awe at this ability that Cornwell has… Not an easy task to change a writing style.

There's also a lot of humor in it, and I actually laughed to tears at one point. That dog that Hammer has is a real treat!

Get it, NOW, guys.
