Starting with Pandora, Anne Rice opens a new page in the chronicles, finally abandoning Lestat. Some might regret him, some might not. But it is a nice change!

Pandora is a female vampire as her name can hint. However, she has nothing to do with Pandora, the mythic figure.

Pandora is also among the oldest vampires, still alive or undead as some might say after the destruction brought about by the Queen of the Damned.

The story begins in a café in Paris; that might be one reason I didn't hate the book, who knows!

David Talbot, former member of the Talamascan Order and new vampire, comes to her and gives her a blank book, where to write her story. Yes, it sounds very much like an interview with the vampire as each vampire is going to tell how they came to become vampires and a part of their life as such. Pandora takes you all around the world, and you travel with her and at the same time, Anne Rice gives you hints about Marius, the eternal enigmatic figure.

I liked that book, not overly much, but still liked it. I lent it to a friend of mine who thought it was too slow, I didn't share her opinion but it is true that not a lot happens. This might be the only drawback of the novel. You might be disappointed by the end because you actually want to learn more, or at least I wanted to know so much more about her, her life seemed so interesting, for lack of more powerful word.

However, like Tolkien in his own genre, Anne Rice is building an entire world with its past, present and future and with each book she adds a new brick to it! I do not doubt that everything will come into place as the books go on!
