This takes place in the near future, after the great earthquake that took out Tokyo. Tokyo has since been rebuild using nano-machines.

It follows the journeys of Chia Pet McKenzie (her mom was just learning English and she thought it sounded like a nice name) as she tries to discover why her rock idol wants to marry an idoru (basicly a computer program).

Gibson weaves the tale of fan and rock star and the various entourage nicely. He also creates a believable future that may be on it's way now.
All in all I enjoyed the book, something that would be perfect for a beach or commuting.
