Okay, this is definitely not a serious book and only romance novels lovers will like this one.
Some may have noticed that I have a page for Bertrice Small books, but since I'm in the States far away from my shelves I can't do reviews of books I haven't read for ages though I do love them : )
During the Bar review, these were the only ones I could read so I had read plenty of them and didn't want to put any reviews of romance novels but I thought what the heck!
This one I like because of the magic surrounding, real magic.
The heroes are Lancelot St. Leger and Lady Rosalynd Carlyon. Lance is the heir of the St. Leger and is afflicted with the worst of the skills any member of his family has. They all have special skills, healing, visions, etc.... He is the Knight Drifter. He can get out of his body and drift. People from the outside would say they have just seen a ghost but he is certainly not.
The St. Leger are also plagued with the rarest curse. The only way they can marry is through a bride finder. They cannot choose for themselves and today it is Effie Fitszgerald who is in charge of finding them brides and grooms, however she dislikes it a lot.
Rosalynd is here for two reasons, first because she promised Effie's grandfather she would visit when she was grown up and second because she is sure that Arthur's Camelot is there.
One night, her maid comes back white as a sheet and says she has seen a ghost in the storage room. To prove her wrong Rosalynd goes to the storage room and encounters Sir Lancelot of the round table, at least she thinks he is. He tells her that he has lost a sword and of course she thinks it is Excalibur while Lance is looking for the family heirloom. But he must go now. She is left alone in the storage room and she happens on the sword.
The day after, Valentine and Lance goes to Effie because Val thinks that Lance can persuade her to go find Val a bride. Val is Lance's twin brother. He obliges and when they arrive, Effie suddenly burst out that Rosalynd is the bride. Val is so happy but then Effie says it's Lance's bride. At the same time, Rosalynd goes into a faint because she has just seen her ghost in the flesh. At the same time, Lance is looking for the sword that has been stolen and Val is sure that Rafe Mortmain, the last survivor of the old time enemy of the St. Leger is the culprit.
Rosalynd is madly in love with a ghost and Lance has no choice to marry her without forcing her.
Lance of course is torn between Sir Lancelot and himself. But what can he do to woe his destiny???
I'm letting you read the book to find out. Not the best romance novel I've read but a good one, still. It can certainly wait to hit the library shelf or the paperback since he just came out in hard cover. But you could start with the first one the series, the bride finder. It's even better. I'll try to do a review if I re-read it someday : )
