1918, Caribbean Seas. The Cyclops is going back home taking a special cargo in her folds. Church doesn't like his captain, Worley and is astounded by the path Worley chose, which is outside commercial paths. Church decides to go to the cargo hold. A strange vision then appears, an Indian who is not supposed to be on boar attacks them at the same time the ship is taken by a cyclone. And it sank with its cargo. 1989, the Florida Keys. A very wealthy industrial decides to take his blimp on a cruise to look for the Cyclops. 30 minutes later, all contacts are lost. 2 weeks later, the blimp reappears with dead people on board and Dirk Pitt rescues the Blimp from a total disaster. Jessie Lebaron, the widow comes to identify the body of her husband. To the astonishment of the Medical examiner and the police officer, she denies it's him. The medical examiner then tells the police officer that she is probably right because of how the people died. They are, though, happy, everything has been preempted by the FBI on orders of the President. At the same time, the president, leisurely playing Golf, learns about the New Jersey colony. The Jersey Colony is a lunar space station that has existed for the past 25 years without any leak to the public and certainly not to the Russians. The president is faced with the horrific thought that a star war is going to happen as the Russians may have photos of the station and the people on the moon wanting to the defend at all costs against invasion and theft before they leave. The President must find the "inner core" while Pitt is hired to find Lebaron. With Al Giordino, Jesse Lebaron and Ira Hagen, Pitt takes the Blimp back on the same course used by Raymond Lebaron. Pitt is curious about the Cyclops treasure, EL Dorado and wants it. While on their nice flight, they are shot down by Russian helicopters but they have time to look through the Cyclops and they found that the treasure has been found by someone who didn't stop at murder. Forced to land on Cuban soil because of a cyclone, they happen on a very private Russian base and are taken prisoners. Interrogated and beaten up by Russians, they face death while the President is still on the hunt for the inner core of the Jersey Colony. Pitt succeeds to escape on a bathtub and is taken back to the States. Pitt is volunteered to help the Army to destroy that base and stop the awful plot against Castro. That's about all what i'm gonna tell you guys. It's very intense. It goes in every direction, the moon, Cuba etc.... I enjoyed it and I still remember most of it, though I got lazy and didn't do the review for a month, <smile>. Go get it, nice for a very long weekend without TV : ) As soon as get info on the Serpent, I no longer have the book in my possession, the review will be up. (i.e.: I suck at names and places).
