HOW TO INSTALL MOUNTING BOARDS
INSTALL AN INSIDE MOUNTED BOARD
- Cut 1 x 1 mounting board 1/2" shorter than inside measurement of window frame. This ensures that mounting board will fit inside the frame after it is covered with fabric.
- Cover mounting board. From the bottom of board, predrill screw holes through board and into window frame, using 1/8" drill bit; drill holes 3/4" from each end of board and in center for a wide window treatments.
- Staple window treatment to mounting board. Secure board, using 8 X 1 1/2" pan head screws.
INSTALL AN OUTSIDE MOUNTED BOARD
- Cut mounting board 2" longer than width of undertreatment or window frame. If the outside-mounted window treatment is used alone, a 1 x 2 mounting board may be used. If the outside-mounted treatment is used over an undertreatment, the mounting board should be at least 2" wider than the projection of the undertreatment.
- Cover board. Mark screw holes for angle irons on bottom of board and at 45" intervals or less. Predrill screw holes into board; size of drill bit depends on screw size required for angle iron. Screw angle irons onto board.
- Hold board at desired placement, making sure it is level; mark screw holes on wall or window frame.
- Remove angle irons from board. Secure angle irons to wall, using molly bolts or 3/4" pan-head screws.
- Staple window treatment to the mounting board. Place mounting board on installed angle irons. Screw angle irons onto board.
