    A set of instructions for digital system,for instance a computer sequencer package written by a software programmer,synthesizer patch information,or sample data;stored in any of the number of ways including floppy or hard disks,ROM or RAM cartridges or cards,or audio cassettes.Modern instruments are software based;thus by changing a ROM od disc with the operating system,the way an instrument works can be altered or improved,to an extent.With a hardware-based system you're stuck as it is.
