Goddess Mother
by: Mermaid 1998

Listening to the quiet breeze
Whispering through the towering trees
I am at awe.....
Who created the beautiful spendor
Delicate flowers, blossums so tender
That I saw.....
Could one create the thumdering rains
The peaceful meadows, the rolling plains
The sun so high.....
A sparkling ocean so full of life
Enormous mountains at whithering heights
The endless sky.....
And as I pondered amongst the ferns
Day to night -- the scenery turns
Dark too soon.....
Agasp I hear the answer aloud
A gorgeous face in silvery clouds
The crescent moon.....
My Goddess, I cry, twas you who made
The earth, on which, my head is laid
Why didn't I see??
The Goddess gently reaches down
She wipes my tears, erases my frown
And smiles upon me
In peace.........

As the gentle breeze wisps through their laughter and secrets,
when does it know to carry them on,
where to carry them off,
or why it is taking them there?

When that laughter is shared
and the secrets are spared
does that wind carry the care?

On wings of an unseen messenger
does come the seasons of change:
Joy to be found in laughter;
Secrets forged from sorrows and grief.

From where will this herald arrive,
on course through measure of time
and how shall we reply?

These answers may lie from whence it came
or stay unrevealed until the next change,
And we, we can only take heed as it shifts course
and navigate our own directions
as we are carried in it's embrace.

Searching
by: L. G. Smith '98

One man stands alone,
But is he man?
A traveler of both time and space
To end here on this remote plane

He has seen the inhabitants
And they see him,
But they do not see a man, they
Only see the reflections of themselves
Often becoming frightened or dismayed
and often turn away

He knows how they feel
For those infinite seconds he was them.
He felt them as they drew in their first breath
And knows how they will expel their last
He knows why they fear
and why they fear him

He always finds himself alone
and questions if he is man
Searching his heart to only find the Rhythm that sustains
His life echoing like thunder across the skies,
Currents of the passing waters reaching the oceans

Are his life’s blood, pulsing with the changing tides.
His body carved from the wind and rain
And his spirit blessed by God

But what is a blessing worth when one can’t share it among others?
What is the purpose of a soul without it’s own emotions?
He questions these things as he weeps in other’s sorrows,
Feels the warmth from their joy,
And whispers their deepest secrets to the dark skies

He is alone, yet he must cling to them
And he would despise them if he could
But those few who have shared in their grace
Have given him a new hope,
That all this may change and he too
Can nurture and grow to share that one emotion
that set his being into existence;
Love, the purest of all

An Old Soul
by: L. G. Smith '98

Today I saw an old soul, but she didn’t recognize me as such.
A piercing gaze obscured with doubt and denial
I wonder, did she choose to be that way
or was she led astray?

Today an old wound resurfaced
from those who did recognize me as such -
That heartfelt sensation the mind cannot comprehend-
An essence of truth, and a curse that forbids the inevitable.
I wonder, how many more lifetimes must I endure?

Today, and as always, an instant thought became an eternal consequence
Vibrating echoes throughout all that is sacred
A fluctuation attains new purpose and manifests
Into what seems old and familiar
I wonder, will it recognize me as such?

Tomorrow we continue forward and etch ourselves into the past
And regather those energies we set forth from today
Those some would call ‘experience’, others ‘circumstance’
Nonetheless a grand design for all

Child Of The Moon
by: Mermaid 1998

Night falls -
And the moon shines so bright…
I lie back…
And bask in her cool light.
Silver Goddess…
Shining in the velvety midnight sky…
Thing of beauty
Every person feeling her earthly tie.
In the darkness…
Her light can always be your guide..
Affecting all….
Even the oceans powerful tide.
Never to be lost…
Whether a tiny sliver or in her full glory…
The moon speaks..
And shares her mystical story

Rain Dance
by: Mermaid 1997

The clouds open wide…
And let out the rain….
I can hear it on the rooftops..
Calling out my name!
I am drawn outside…
To feel the droplets on my skin..
I smile toward the sky…
And let it all soak in!
My Clothing……so wet…
My hair stuck to my face…
I turn about and laugh out loud..
The rainclouds I embrace!
I love the rainfall on my body..
The cold myst in my eyes
I love when the rain falls upon me…
Erupting from the skies.
When my body begins to shiver…
As my skin feels so cold..
I regretfully go indoors
Out of the rains encompassing hold…
Until the next time…..
That the rain chooses to fall…
Then once again I will venture out…
As I know that it will call!.

Alone
by: Mermaid 1997

Hello? Hello?
Is there anyone here?
Am I craving…..
to have someone near?
Alone…..all alone…
I tell myself "I don’t mind!"
As I look about frantically…
For another soul to find.
I say "I am independent"…
That I don’t need anyone else.
Yet I shudder to think…
Of spending life by myself.
What does this say of me?
Am I afraid of loneliness?
Do I fear life without closeness..
To never feel another’s caress.
To only have my own thoughts..
To only see the world my way..
Now that would be a shame.
An enormous price to pay!
SO I choose to share my life…
With friends and family.
But save a precious little piece..
For me and only me!
Vision
by: Mermaid 1997

Come closer......
Look into my eyes.......
Do you see me?
Or what you want me to be?

Dream Desire
by: Mermaid 1997

Surrounded by darkness
Alone in my bed
Sleep overcomes me
Dreams enter my head
Far, far away
In some exotic land
You lay beside me
On the hot, dark sand
The sight of your body
Beneath the sun afire
Brings new feeling to me
Passion and desire
And as evening settles
A rain begins to fall
And we huddle together
Protected from it all
Your kisses alight a flame
That burns inside my heart
And then I feel you kiss my neck...
Control just falls apart
We tumble to the ground
Our bodies become one
We create a fantasy
That cannot be undone
And as you make sweet love to me....
I know that we will always be.......
A flame that burns forever strong
A love that lasts, unlike a song
Dreamscape
by: Mermaid 1997

Pink, Gold, Orange and Blue
The sun is setting, the day is through
This beauty I would always keep
If only I did not have to sleep

The light is fading, fading fast
And then the darkness comes at last
Do I fear this blinding veil,
By the light that is so pale?

Alone, alas, I am not sad
This darkness, it is not so bad
Envelopes in it's sightless bliss
The light of day I do not miss

In darkness.......I can dream anew
Create a world for me and you
Where waters fall and flowers bloom
And lovers kiss by the light of the moon

Where only peace and harmony
Wait there for us beside the sea
The sun will shine, the breeze will blow
And love is the only thing that we know

Together we are one you see
For there is only you and me
And Pink, Gold, Orange and Blue
Last on and on, the whole night through
The Clown Prince
by: Dan Gladden 1997

In His world he sits Alone,
Shouting orders from his Throne.
A Golden Crown upon his head,
Satin sheets upon his bed.
He looks in the mirror and see's a clown,
He looks on his face and sees a Frown,
Not realizing what he's got...
In his Book, would be the Plot.
The title would be his name,
The Scenery would be his shame.
And All Throughout He's Sit Alone,
Shouting orders From his Throne.
Puzzle Box
by: Dan Gladden 1997

A Rage Building Deep inside, Emotions left No Place To Hide.
A Cold that Starts In his Heart, From A Spark A Fire Starts.
A Lonely babe in the woods, how can his crys be misunderstood.
A Seeking Predator Looking For Prey, once again his heart strays.
Many things All Tied in one, Look past them, his rule of thumb.
Piling, Piling, higher and higher, Is this misery his True desire.
A box to hide, a Path to Run, A mask to wear to see The Sun.
Another day and Resolution, A Giant Puzzle with No Solution.
