Workhorses of the air

Antonov An 2 HA-MEU

A 1950's development, this huge biplane was conceived as a true workhorse and lives up to this reputation to this very day. It is in use in the harshest environments of the world and performs such diverse tasks as passenger or cargo transport, crop-sprayer, water bomber, paradrop aircraft, ...

Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 Turbo-Porter OO-JDV

With its turboprop engine, the powerful PC-6 is a true allrounder. Its cavernous fuselage can hold passengers or cargo. The rugged aircraft structure and sturdy undercarriage make the Turbo-Porter suitable for all terrain work, and thanks to the powerful engine, hot and high operation.

The illustrated machine is in use as a paradrop aircraft, another popular role for this aircraft.

Stinson L-5 Sentinel OO-PBB.

Hardly an elegant-looking aircraft, the L-5 was a popular US Army/Air Force/Navy liaison and light observation plane in the forties and fifties. Several ex-military examples were converted for crop-spraying duties after the war.

This particular aircraft is special in that it was owned by the Dutch Prince Bernhard in thefifties before it was sold to a banner-towing company. It has returned in Dutch hands since these pictures were taken.
