Cessna 170

Cessna 170B D-ENRA

Essentially an enlarged version of the 140, the model 170 formed the basis for the highly succesful 4-seat model 172.

George Horn's Cessna 170 was built in 1953 and underwent total reconstruction some years ago.

Cessna 170B N146YS radio equipment as it looked way back in 1953 and as it looks today....

Actually, the top picture shows plastic covers over the modern equipment of the bottom picture. Indeed, this aircraft flies with state-of-the-art Narco 810 Com, Narco AT-150A transponder, KLN88 long-range Nav and a 4-seat Intercom system, that can be covered with plastic replicas of the original nav/com equipment for display purposes. Most convincing !
