Chapter #19
Is Christianity bad? Not at all, quite the opposite, and the Scriptures say so, we
read the following in St. John 14:6 Jesus
saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me. So if you want to go to Heaven and live in the New Jerusalem, you have to
go through Jesus and that is a good thing. Who would want to miss out living in the Holy
City, with its streets of gold, no more death, sickness, wars and no more shed tears,
ever!
So why the question is it bad? Well,
the bad part about it, is a lot of the Christians, dont seem to understand a few of
the simple concepts of the Bible. Like for instance, GRACE! What is Grace, let us look at the
meaning in Holmans Bible Dictionary
Undeserved acceptance and love received from another, especially the
characteristic attitude of God in providing salvation for sinners.
For Christians, the word "grace" is virtually synonymous with the gospel
of God's gift of unmerited salvation in Jesus Christ. To express
this, the New Testament writers used the Greek word charis, which had a long
previous history in secular Greek. Related to the word for joy or pleasure, charis
originally referred to something delightful or attractive in a person, something which
brought pleasure to others. From this it came to have the idea of a favor or kindness
done to another or of a gift which brought pleasure to another. Viewed from the
standpoint of the recipient, it was used to refer to the thankfulness felt for a gift or
favor. These meanings also appear in the biblical use of charis, but only in the New
Testament does it come to have the familiar sense which "grace" bears for
Christians.
Please note some of the following
words above that are in bold, ACCEPTANCE, LOVE, GIFT, KINDNESS. These are the
things that Jesus showed to us when we received Him as our Saviour, dont you
think we should show the same love for others? Do we then have to accept sinful
behavior from other believers? NO! How then should we act towards them?
St. Luke 9:
54 And when his disciples James and John saw
this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and
consume them, even as Elias did?
(Note- No Love or Kindness is being shown by the Disciples above, only destruction!
And if you look below you will see that Jesus did not approve of their ideas at all!)
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and
said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to
destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
So the question remains, what are we suppose to do when a fellow believer really screws up big time? Well we have addressed these problems in our By-Laws and here are a few of the things that we came up with from the Bible.
3) EACH MEMBER MUST BE COMMITTED TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER. St. John 13: 34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved
you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my
disciples, if ye have love one to another.
4) STRIFE
SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST.
James 3: 16 For where envying and strife is,
there is confusion and every evil work.
16) GRIEVANCES: A MEMBER HAVING A PROBLEM WITH ANOTHER MEMBER SHOULD:
#1. SEEK THE GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN PRAYER
#2. APPROACH HIS BROTHER (IN LOVE)
So as we see above we should seek the guidance of the Spirit and pray, and then
we should approach the brother in Love with Meekness and Gentleness and correct them as we
would want to be corrected. Now comes the hard part, WAIT, for the Holy Spirit to
do His work in the believers heart and give time for repentance to shine forth, Your Not
God, so dont act like it! Remember the Pharisees, dont become one.
Bottom line, we are Ambassadors for Christ, we are suppose to show others the
WAY and the LOVE of GOD, its our job, PERIOD! We are not here to CONDEMN AND PUNISH OTHERS, IF YOU THINK WE ARE TO DO
THAT, OR YOU ACT THAT WAY, YOU BETTER READ YOUR BIBLE ALL OVER AGAIN, YOU MISSED
SOMETHING!!!
Romans 12: 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves,
but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay,
saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed
him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his
head.
If your brother falls into sin,
correct him gently with Gods Word and in Love.
II Timothy
3: 16 All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good
works.
Its real simple, so go and do it, and for Gods sake act like a Ambassador of Christ, to everyone you meet, AMEN
