Course Description:

Students are introduced to main elements of architectural forms and their ways of manipulation in terms of transformation of form and ordering principles. The interrelationship and interplay between form and function are examined at rudimentary level. Traditional means of drafting and visualization (2D and 3D) are exercised during studio work along with selected CAD applications.

Teaching Methodology:

Computer and manual drafting skills are introduced using several practical training examples. A small architectural project is used to illustrate the design process and develop students? decision-making skills.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course the student should be able to confront small size design problems with adequate drafting skills. Also, students should be able to use selected Computer Aided Design packages.

Method of Evaluation

1- Attendance is a must according to university regulations.

2- Class participation and assignments - 55%
