Linsner to do CBLDF Benifit!
Big news dirrectly from Joe Linsner himself via Eva Hopkins! -
"For the first time ever, Joe is putting a cover painting up for sale. Actually, I don't believe Joe has sold any of his work that has been published; he has published work *after* selling it, but this is the first time it's a cover and first time he did it ever with the plan of selling it.
Here's the situation; Peregrine Entertainment, a small, independent DC-based publisher, is going to publish a book this fall called "Independent Voices", the proceeds of which entirely go to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. It's a terrific cause; since comics are seldom seen as a "real" art form, they definitely need an organization that protects their creators and retailers who occasionally get into scrapes with the law when something controversial is created or sold. (This happens a lot more often that you may think!) So, Joe is doing this great cross-promotion with Peregrine (the painting, a buxom blonde sucking on a Bomb Pop, will be the cover to "Independent Voices" #2) and the CBLDF (the same image will be on Joe's CBLDF T-shirt). Plus, the original painting is gonna be up for auction on Ebay! Where it will also be hopefully a featured item and all that."
The projected date will be Sept. 6 - 19, 1999.
