R2-D2 Blueprints

Droids

Here is an Idea I got from the Internet: If your really dead set on making a good R2-D2, then make the body out of wood, then cover and mold the rest w/ clay, just like you would in making a car. Then when the clay model is finished, cover the clay model w/ fiberglass resin and cloth. When the fiberglass is dry, then remove the clay model and then pour and coat the inside of the fiberglass mold w/ fiberglass. You now have your R2-D2. The finished fiberglass body will be as smooth as you made the original clay model. Now all you do is paint it.

HERE IS SOMETHING YOU HAVE BEEEN LOOKING FOR!

Information on how some one made an R2-D2. A somewhat of the information we need to help with construction! Please if you use this information let me know on how its comming along and any corrections you may have had to make to help others build their own replica! Make sure you E-mail Jedi Los for the password. I only have that info to pass on, not anyone else whose email may be listed on this page. Thanks!

R2-D2 Pages, but you need a password for this area.
Im just doing this as a test and you will need to e-mail Jedi Los to receive this information. I will e-mail the codes as soon as I get the e-mail. Thank you!

STORMTROOPER COMLINK SWREPLICAS

MATERIALS

INSTRUCTIONS

1) The first thing you need to do after aquiring the parts, is to cut of = the end of the Barb Splicer (refer to illustration) with your rotary = tool. Now, cut off the rib in the middle. It doesn't have to look = pretty, because this part will be covered in o-rings anyway.

2) Now, slip the about 6 (or so) o-rings onto the main body and slide = them all the way down. No glue is needed, as the o-rings will remain in = place on their own. Wrap some tape around the remaining part of the body = (between the o-rings and those small protrusions) and slide the rest of = the o-rings on (the original comlink had a section of rings that were = raised slightly higher than the others--that is what the tape is = for)

3) Cut out a circular section of the foamies in the exact size of the = inside of the Barb Splicer. Place A LOT of epoxy around the edges and = insert it into the tapered end of the splicer just deep enough so there = is about a 2 milimeter lip around the foamies. This will be what holds = the screen in place.

4) Now, take the Male Aerator apart and get the screen out. Place a good = amount of epoxy around the edges of the foamie and put the screen on top = of it. The voice emitter/mic is now done!

5) Take the section of body you cut off earlier and cut the tapered end = off. Smooth the edges and glue it back on the end of the comlink with = epoxy.

6) OK the plug I included in the parts list goes on the butt end of the = comlink. Now, I don't know the product number or what its called, but = look around Home Depot for it. It's white and I drew a small picture of = what it should look like. Anyway, use a lot of epoxy and stick it in the = end of the comlink. Cut off any excess and your comlink is done! While = it's not 100% accurate, it looks real good!

Please refer to the diagrams if the directions don't make sense.

If you need further guidance, or have any comments or suggestions, email = them to swreplicas@thephantommenace.8m.com

Good Luck, and May the Force be with you!!!
